Heritage Science Data Colloquium 2026
\u201cUser-Oriented Scientific Data Infrastructures for Heritage Science\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized by INCT IN2PAST.BR – National Institute of Science and Technology – Research in Natural History, Cultural Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory. INCT IN2PAST.Br is based at UFMG, as a joint initiative leaded by the Institute of Biological Sciences (ICB) and CECOR – Center for Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, at the School of Fine Arts of UFMG, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage Science is undergoing a profound transformation. Advances in analytical techniques, scientific imaging, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies have expanded the possibilities of investigating, understanding, and preserving cultural heritage. At the same time, the growing volume of scientific data brings challenges related to long-term management, accessibility, interoperability, and reuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conceived as a forum for dialogue, the colloquium will bring together experts from universities, research institutes, museums, public bodies, international organizations, and digital infrastructure initiatives. The objective is to identify common challenges, promote the exchange of experiences between different areas, and discuss the conceptual, technical, and organizational foundations necessary for building user-oriented scientific data infrastructures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governance, semantics, metadata, interoperability, artificial intelligence, long-term preservation, and international cooperation will be at the center of the discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Event presented in English, with Portuguese subtitles in the online broadcast for registered participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Registration is free and mandatory. A digital certificate will be issued to participants with confirmed attendance in at least two of the three sessions of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
